Founder, Artistic Director & Choreographer, Sari Feldman

Sari Feldman has been performing professionally throughout the United States and Canada since 2001.

Sari was featured in the national tour of CATS (Troika Entertainment), under the direction of Broadway Dance Supervisor Richard Stafford, with the Tony®-nominated choreography by Gillian Lynne.

For the national tour of ANNIE (NETworks Presentations), she was engaged as actor, dance captain, and associate choreographer, working with Tony®,  Emmy, and Grammy™ award winning creator Martin Charnin.

Sari has countless credits both on Long Island and across the country. Signature roles have included Liza Minnelli in THE BOY FROM OZ, Kitty in THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, Anybodys in WEST SIDE STORY, Morales in A CHORUS LINE, and Nickie in SWEET CHARITY.  Her fourteen year history with Port Jefferson's Theatre Three has included performance, choreography, and a founding member of Theatre Three's summer Musical Theatre Factory, now in its 11th season. In addition, Sari has worked as a member of their Resident Acting Company for two seasons.

Additional projects have included choreographing musicals for high schools, colleges, local theatres, as well as instructing dance classes for all ages.

Sari looks forward to sharing her professional experience, knowledge and passion for theater with her students at THEATRICS.


 
  

 

 

 

OYA BANGURA

Oya is originally from West Africa, Sierra Leone.  She has trained with The United Nations International School, Alvin Ailey, Broadway Dance Center, Dance Theatre of Harlem and Boston University.  She has performed all over the world with such professionals as Mary Tyler Moore, Savion Glover, Charlotte d'Amboise, and Ann Reinking, to name a few. Her love for theatre, performing and education brought her back to Suffolk Community College where she received her Associates Degree in Acting/Theatre.  She earned the American College Theatre Festival and KCACTF Irene Ryan National Scholarship and Award. 

In addition to Oya's own training, she has been educating young people in dance and theatre for many years. She currently teaches at local LI dance studios as well as choreographs musicals for local middle schools. From 2010-2012 Oya choreographed for Theatre Three's Musical Theatre Factory where she met Miss Sari. Miss Bangura feels blessed and honored to join the THEATRICS family.

 

 

RYAN MCGOVERN

Ryan started playing percussion at the age of 15 when he joined the Longwood High School Marching Band. He was inspired by his teacher Ed Walsh to pursue a career in music education. Ryan has his BS in Music Education from Hofstra University and is currently working towards completing his MA as well. Ryan has taught general music at the Riverhead Charter School and the Roosevelt Children’s Academy Charter School. Ryan also has taught at the Longwood Youth Theater Experience for the past 8 years where he directed the “Pit Bulls” pit orchestra. Ryan is currently playing drums in a band by the name of Crisis Crayons and is a show director and percussion teacher at The School of Rock in Port Jefferson.

 

  KATE KEATING

Kate is absolutely thrilled to be joining THEATRICS again this year.  She is a proud graduate of Nazareth College of Rochester where she earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and fulfilled the requirements for a Bachelor of Science in Music Theatre.  Upon graduation, Kate was awarded the Nazareth College Music Theatre Award for Excellence in the Art.  Kate has also earned a Master of Science in Education from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College.  Upon completion of her master’s degree, Kate was awarded the Music Education Graduate Award for Academic and Professional Excellence.

Kate has a great deal of experience both teaching and performing.  She is a New York State certified music teacher for grades Pre-K through twelve.  Kate has musical directed for John W. Engeman Theater’s Musical Theater Summer Camp, Millbrook Playhouse’s Musical Theatre Camp, North Fork Community Theatre, Theatrics Performing Arts, the East Islip School District’s musicals, and St. Luke’s Summer Program.  She is currently the voice and piano teacher at Broadway Dance Theatre in East Islip.

As an actor, Kate has had the privilege of performing in various theatres on Long Island including the John W. Engeman Theater, Theatre Three, BroadHollow Theatre Company, Studio Theatre, Smithtown PAC, and CM Performing Arts Center.  She has toured along the eastern coast of the United States as Dorothy in American Theater Arts For Youth’s production of The Wizard of Oz.  She has also performed in summer stock theatre at Millbrook Playhouse in Pennsylvania for the past three summers.  Other favorite credits include Les Misérables (Cosette – 2013 BroadwayWorld Long Island Award Winner for Best Actress in a Musical), Junie B. Jones The Musical (Junie B. Jones), The Marvelous Wonderettes (Suzy), Little Women (Beth), Urinetown (Little Sally), The Rocky Horror Show (Janet – Kennedy Center ACTF Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship Competition Nominee), Nunsense (Sister Mary Leo), and Pinkalicious (Pinkalicious).
